It's been almost 6 months since I've written and all I could think of was "where has the time gone?!" I got inspired to write events from reading my moms journal this past week in California! I can see where I get my humor and my writing from. My mom has the most amazing journal. I love it. To say a lot as happened in the last 6 months would be an understatement! I'm glad I'm able to keep a personal hand-written journal to remind me of the details of these things!
June:
We went to California for a little bit to see my family and my little sister graduate. It is so nice to be able to go home and visit with my siblings. We then headed back to Idaho just to turn around and head to Manti, Utah to be with my family again for the Mormon Miracle Pageant. If any of you reading this haven't gone, put it on your calendar for next year! It's amazing! My parents have taken use quite a few times in the past and we love it! My parents rented a house for us close to Manti and we relaxed and hung out. June was such a great month. We got to see my sister who lives across the country, and her little kids. It's so fun! I found out in Manti that I got into grad school and that I would start in August!
July:
We headed to Vernal, Utah for a family reunion on conrads side of the family. Those days were packed with so much fun! Conrad and I went to a water park in Provo before heading down to vernal and it was so fun. We love water and rides! So putting those two things together makes it cloud 9 for us! It was SO fun! At the family reunion we slept in a tent in the backyard. It's so great to be able to see family and hang out for a little bit. The Fourth of July is my all time favorite holiday so celebrating it with family made it even better! When we got home I focused more on getting ready for school. With starting Grad School, we weren't too worried about me getting another job but I had an email come from the hospital in our town saying they were looking for an office coordinator for their pediatric therapy office. I applied for fun thinking i wouldn't get the job because I don't have my masters degree yet. Plus the job is part time and sounded way too good to be true. I got a call for an interview the next day for the day after. I accepted and didn't think much of it.
The interview came and I wasn't too nervous because I didn't think I was a serious candidate. The interview went great to say the least and I left thinking that even though it went great, there's no way I'd get that job. I got a call about an hour or two later offering me the job! I then got a phone call from a local high school offering me a job to help coach their volleyball team. I gladly accepted the hospital job but was hesitant on the volleyball coaching gig since I would have so much going on. I was forced to decline but volunteering to help out isn't too bad! I was ecstatic that I had a job that matched up so perfectly with my degree. It was a relieving, yet stressful moment for me. So many changes happening fast.
My mom came to stay with us along with my two little sister for about a week. It was fun going hiking, shopping, swimming and paddle boarding with them. My mom is also a great help when it comes to helping us pick out a house for when we need to move. July was just as packed and busy as June was!
August:
The first weekend in august we took our first camping trip together up to Palisades lake. This was SO much fun. It was probably the highlight of our summer. As short and sweet as it was, it was perfect. We love going on adventures and doing new things with each other. We made tinfoil dinners, packed plenty of snacks and made sure we didn't leave without packing some smores things! We talked over the campfire and cuddled as we read our books to each other and talked about our future! We have a lot of changes coming within the next year or so! It's fun to talk about the places we will go, jobs we will have and states we will live in or visit!
I started my new job and school and things couldn't have gone better. My job is a DREAM. It was exactly what I wanted. It wasn't by accident that I had gotten an email and applied! I get to work with little kids and meet some amazing families. This is an amazing job and opportunity to my future. Summer was coming to an end and we were not too excited about it.
September:
My grandpa had passed away the first week of the month and we were headed to Colorado for the funeral. This meant much more traveling than we thought but it was more than worth it! My mom and two sisters met us there and we stayed with Conrads eldest brother and his family. They are the cutesr and funniest! That weekend was fun until sunday! I woke up with some kind of virus and wasn't feeling too good. I spent the entire day trying to sleep it off and break my fever. We got up the next morning to head back to Idaho. Unfortunately we got two and a half hours away when I forgot my backpack and all my homework. I have never left anything that important while traveling. It was Labor Day weekend so traffic was horrendous. Conrad kept his cool but I knew he was flaming inside. Lol. 'Twas the WORST! Literally the worst. Thankfully we didn't get home horribly late though!
The rest of semester left me spending lots of time reading books for school, endless papers that all had to be at least 15+ pages and a lot of complaining and venting. I have the best husband to support me through this! School started for my little sisters and I was able to help a little bit with their transitions back up here. My mom and dad both came up here to move them up and it was so fun having them here!
October:
October came a little too fast and also went faster than it came! We were able to go to CANADA! Conrad served in the Edmonton area and became close with some families up there. The dad of a family he loves was getting baptized so we had the opportunity to drive up there for it! It was so so so fun! Even if it was snowing! We were able to rent a car and save some miles on our car. The weekend was amazing!
About a week after Canada, I finished my first term and got all A's! I was so proud of myself and how hard I worked. At this point, I had also applied for a Dr. Pepper scholarship. I had to have 50 people "support" me on Facebook and once I had that, I could upload a video under 60 seconds, to tell Dr. Pepper why I deserve to win the scholarship. Dr. Pepper picks 16 contestants. There are 4 Big Ten Football games and 4 contestants go to each. At halftime, the contestants compete. The first place winner gets $100,000 the second place winner gets $20,000 and the other two get $2500. They pay for your plane tickets, hotels, and merchandise to compete with at halftime. I stressed about my video because this would be the biggest blessing ever! Dr. Pepper will be making calls min-November, so I still don't know, but keep me in your prayers! I need them! The weekend after Canada, Conrad took my hunting with him. I swore we hiked like 100 miles and it was pretty insanely windy. Although I've never been the hunting type, this was so fun! Conrad and I had such a good time being together, hiking and seeing some amazing views. We didn't find anything, but the day was great!
My brother got married in Vegas so we were able to go down for that as well as spending a week in California to be with my family and help my mom with the open house down there. Even though I got sick THREE times and two of those times were on this vacation, it was still so fun. I love being with my family and especially my nieces and nephews. Family really is the most important thing you have in this world and I am so grateful Conrad and I have the best families! The week I spent in California I started the second term of my masters program and it was a little tough trying to balancing everything, but no matter what, I know this term will be challenging! We made it back to Idaho safe and sound on Halloween. We were able to dress up at the Hunter and his Deer and go trick or treating with some family friends and their kids. It is so fun to go with them! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, but going out with our friend's kids made it even better!
November:
November just barely started, but its already been such a great month! Conrad has been enjoying work a lot more and has gotten a lot more responsibility. We are looking more seriously into CRNA schools for him and narrowing down the search. So far we have a few states: California, Arizona, Washington, Utah, Pennsylvania, and Texas. I am hoping for California, because its really close to my parents and the school there is amazing. It would be an awesome experience. I really hate Utah, so that is my last choice, but Westminster is a good school. The next on my list other than California is Arizona or Texas. Both of our families are on the West side of the US (except for my one sister) so I would like to stay fairly close! I am glad to be getting out of Idaho for a little bit! I think it'll be a good adventure for us!
My little sister and I ran a G.I. Jog, 5K to help support the veterans in our city. It was FREEZING, but totally worth it to support those who have sacrificed so much more for us and our country! We are able to go to Colorado later this month to be with my in-laws for Thanksgiving. Even though its another 12+ hour drive, we are excited. Because family is EVERYTHING.
Our lives have been pretty insane with so much going on, but a good insane! Since June, we have been to Utah, California, back to Utah twice, Wyoming (not too far), Colorado, Canada, Utah again, then Vegas, back to California and then we will be in Colorado again in a few weeks! We can't believe that this year has flown by so fast! We are so blessed and grateful for everything in our lives and everything that has happened. We have learned how to be friends to others through the true friendship and service that others have shown us. We have also learned that house/apartment hunting is extremely stressful and worrisome. We love the Gospel and the comfort and guidance it provides for our families and friends. & best of all, we love each other! Life is good!
