The last time I wrote was in October. Its now the middle of January. How the heck did all that time pass so fast?! Conrad and I have been extremely busy and had a lot of exciting things happen! Being married, we had our first Thanksgiving and Christmas! The holiday months FLY by every year too!
Back in September I bought Conrad Boise State Football tickets for his Birthday. We were able to drive to Boise and spend some time with his brother and his family. It was so fun. Early that month, Conrad's grandma passed away and we were able to get together with all of his family. As sad as the reason to gather was, it is always so good to see family and all be together. We spent Thanksgiving with Conrad's family too. It was a great month! In December we were able to accompany Conrad's parents and go to Utah to see his sister. They came with us to the LDS Christmas Devotional in Salt Lake. I LOVED IT. Then we had Conrads birthday. We went and watched Star Wars and I had a star wars cake made for him. It was really awesome! We also got passes to Targhee and went snowboarding. Let me tell you about this trip:
The first times back are always the hardest, right?? Well this one snowboarding trip was so rough for me. Conrad is learning to ski again and he is doing really good! I always follow him down the mountain. We went on the foggiest and coldest day. I could barely see a foot in front of me. It was freezing cold and I felt like I couldn't even breathe! After a couple runs of sucking, I decide to take a break. Then Conrad and I had lunch. We went back up on the mountain and its like the fog got 6x more thick. I couldn't see Con and of course got lost. I WAS ALONE. This is terrifying for me. I hated this run, I have no idea what I am doing and I felt like I was dying. No one else was around and if they were, I couldn't even see them. My goggles kept fogging up and i had to clean them off with my gloves every 2 seconds in order to see. As I was going down the hill, I caught a little too much speed and freaked out. Now I am not sure what happened. All I know is my knee got twisted, I somersaulted a couple times and I hit my face on the ice. I finally sat there, naturally looked around to see if anyone saw and then kept telling myself "don't cry, don't cry." My knee felt like it had been ripped off and my nose hurt so bad. So i started crying. One of those cries that lasts 2 minutes and then you realize you're over reacting. Then, a 6 year old snowboarded passed me with his dad and he was clearly way better than me. A 6 year old. Twas a rough day for me. But I really don't think it could have gone worse so... theres that. I hope your day is better now.
Conrad and I spent Christmas here in Rexburg. He had to work nights Christmas eve, Christmas, & a couple days after. Then we made our way to California for a week. We needed that sunshine more than anything! In Conrad's family they have a tradition to do a 12 days of christmas service project. We decided to do it this year. We bought some fun things for a family in need and 12 days before christmas we would drop those items off at their door and run away. It was a lot easier in my head because in my head it wasn't snowing and freezing outside. But the ground wasn't icy either. Its safe to say I let Conrad do all of the running! It was extremely rewarding to serve a family who needed it. It really brought in the spirit of Christmas to our home. Christmas was the best! Conrad got my a kitchen aid and some Hunter boots. He got the colors right and everything. What an amazing husband! I got Conrad a sleeping bag, some clothes, shoes and lots of movies. We are extremely blessed!
If anyone knows me, they know I love to decorate and make things. So christmas is the BEST time because I get to decorate how I want to! We bought an awesome fake christmas tree from target on a great deal. The best thing about it though is we still had our gift cards from our wedding. So thats what we used for that. I was able to make a fake fireplace out of our food storage, even if it took a couple weeks, I was AMAZED on how it turned out! I am actually really proud of it. Since Conrad and I are moving in a couple months, I am not taking it down until then. I was tempted to leave the tree up as well, but it didn't make it past Jan 5th.
A lot has happened in our lives and I CAN NOT believe that 2016 is here! We have so much to look forward to and goals to reach. Conrad and I will reach 1 year of marriage in 3 months! January hasn't been the best. We got home from California, I got the stomach flu for 3 days. Then I get a sinus infection and I am congested forever now because my immune system sucks. BUT we are going to a game in Utah soon and our cruise is in 36 DAYS!!! 36 Days!! I cannot wait! I have been waiting for this for almost a year! This is Conrad and mines official honeymoon! We move in 2 months and we will both be closer to our jobs! I got a job at a cancer institution and I am LOVING it. The patients I have met in my short time of being there have made the biggest impact on my life. It truly shows that life is what you make of it! 2015 was the best year ever, but 2016 will be just as good, if not better.
